Newark is our muse. Essex County is our garden. From Brick City’s street corners to the quiet power of its artists, educators, parents, and hustlers — this place breathes truth, resilience, and renaissance.

Native and Rare exists to reflect that energy — and spread it far and wide.

Our Roots Run Deep

With seven published poetry books and one children’s book, Native and Rare began as a voice in the dark — calling out, hoping someone would hear. That voice turned into a tribe.

We are a people of the people.

We write, lift, heal, fight, plant, build, and dream — together.

Our Mission

To build a creative collective where artists, farmers, tech nerds, muscle heads, goths, poets, financial geniuses, and free spirits all show up — as they are. A home for everyone who ever felt too different to fit in, and too rare to be overlooked.
